Pregnancy Counseling
Locations | Experts | How You Can Help This Program

An unexpected pregnancy can be very stressful. Young people often feel scared, alone and confused. Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska has experienced counselors who will help you explore your options, confidentially and without pressure or judgment.
(Read how Josie received the caring, non-judgmental counseling she needed, or how Jordan & Kent found their ideal adoptive family for Jacqueline)

Confidential counseling is available at no cost to those experiencing an unexpected pregnancy. Counseling is available to the birth parents and their families for up to six months following delivery. Birth parents and their families are supported in exploring their feelings about the pregnancy, telling significant others, and in examining their options.

"No one else knew I was pregnant when I first called Lutheran Family Services. My counselor helped me tell my parents and the father of my baby." - Amy, 17

Parenting Support

Many young people choose the option of parenting. Our Lutheran Family Services counselors help expectant parents prepare for the birth of the child, learn about caring for an infant, secure needed housing and other material resources, and arrange for child care.

"At Lutheran Family Services I didn't feel alone any more. I didn't have to make any quick decisions. I explored all of my options without pressure." - Jennifer, 19

Open Adoption

Some birth parents choose adoption because of goals they have for their future, because they are just not ready to become a parent, or because they are already parenting other children. The wishes of the birth parents are always respected in adoption planning. However, Lutheran Family Services believes an open adoption will best serve the needs of the birth parents and the child.

For pregnancy counseling, contact your local Lutheran Family Services office or call (800) 267-9876.
